Behavioural Scientist, Cert. CRAFT-therapist. Member of MINT (Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers) and Ph.D. Robert Meyers Associates. Carina Bang has worked with MI since 2002 and started while working in the addiction field within the Swedish prison and probation service for 10 years, motivating substance users to accept drug addiction treatment. In her clinical work she has met women and men with multiple problems including mental illness, sexual abuse, criminal lifestyle, domestic violence, prostitution, homelessness and substance misuse. Carina worked as an instructor for conflict- and self-defence for staff within the prison. She is also a trainer in Motivational Interviewing and a member of MINT. She has been educating professionals in MI since 2006 and has held over 100 MI-courses. She has trained and supervised hundreds of professionals in different municipalities in Sweden who meet and work with people with substance misuse and mental health problems. Since 2006 she has also been treating family members who are affected by substance use within the family. In addition to this she holds CRAFT-training in groups and individual treatment for families. She received her bachelor’s degree in general criminology at the University of Stockholm, Sweden, in 2001. She has also studied Forensic Psychology, Substance Abuse Treatment and Domestic Violence.
